Intern – ICT Support Services

About the role

This internship offers a hands‑on opportunity to support the ICT services of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Bogota. The intern will work closely with the IT focal point, gaining exposure to help‑desk operations, equipment preparation, and inventory management within a United Nations environment.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to help‑desk requests and provide initial technical support to users.
• Configure and prepare ICT equipment for staff use.
• Monitor and control IT‑related supplies such as printers and consumables.
• Assist in the installation and update of authorized software following Office policies.
• Provide basic user support for institutional technological tools and platforms.
• Support ICT activities within authorized access and coordinate with the designated IT focal point.
• Update and reconcile the Office’s IT equipment inventory and prepare related records.
• Compile statistics and reports on IT services, including help‑desk performance.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on office equipment.
• Undertake other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed the final year of a bachelor‑level programme, preferably in information technology, systems engineering or a related field.
• Fluent in spoken and written Spanish; knowledge of English is an advantage.
• Reliable, service‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work professionally in a multicultural, multilingual UN setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Office 365.
• Basic troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
• Familiarity with operating systems and software installation.
• Experience handling ICT equipment and performing preventive maintenance.
