Internal Auditor – Financial & Compliance

About the role

Join Smurfit Westrock’s Internal Audit team as an Internal Auditor, responsible for delivering assurance and advisory audit projects across finance, compliance, enterprise and technology domains. You will help shape a strong risk and control assurance function while supporting continuous improvement of audit methodologies.

Key responsibilities

• Execute assurance and advisory internal audit projects in line with the annual audit plan, covering financial, compliance, enterprise and technology areas.
• Drive continuous improvement of audit approaches, tools, methodologies and productivity.
• Support the internal quality‑assurance program to ensure compliance with IIA International Standards.
• Provide data‑driven risk and control insights to senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and travel up to 30% across the Americas.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or a related field.
• 4‑5 years of experience in a large accounting/consulting firm (audit or advisory) or in an internal audit department of a large company.
• Proven ability to lead and deliver complex audits independently.
• Experience working consultatively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Strong teamwork experience in large‑team and cross‑functional environments.
• Self‑motivated, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% across the Americas.
