Junior AI/ML Engineer - Remote (Colombia or Mexico)

About the role

A remote position for Junior AI/ML Engineers based in Colombia or Mexico, building AI agents that handle customer conversations by voice and chat. You will work on retrieval, orchestration, APIs and integrations, turning prototypes into production solutions, alongside full-stack engineers, CX designers and operations teams. The role is English-speaking and requires strong written and spoken English.

Key responsibilities

• Develop conversational agents that call tools and APIs and hand off to human agents when needed
• Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines that use approved information sources
• Connect AI agents with CRMs, ticketing systems, databases and messaging channels
• Work with API gateways, authentication, rate limits and versioning
• Help build voice agents using speech-to-text, LLMs and text-to-speech in English and Spanish
• Use evaluations, automated tests and guardrails to improve accuracy, reliability and safety
• Ship and maintain solutions through CI/CD, monitoring and documentation

Required profile

• 1-3 years of experience in software or ML engineering; internships, research or projects count
• Cloud experience with at least one of Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
• Hands-on experience with an LLM API (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Azure OpenAI)
• Experience building an AI agent that calls tools or APIs (LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel)
• Experience building a RAG pipeline (chunking, embeddings, vector search, retrieval tuning)
• Professional written and spoken English and Spanish

Required skills

• Solid Python, Git, Docker and basic SQL
• REST APIs, authentication, rate limits, versioning and webhooks
• Nice to have: speech AI (Azure AI Speech, Whisper, LiveKit, Pipecat), MCP, CRM/contact center APIs (Dynamics 365, Salesforce, Zendesk), LLM evaluation tools (Langfuse, Ragas), cloud AI certifications
