Junior SEO Manager (Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior SEO Manager to join our growing SEO team at MeanPug on a contractor basis. You will work alongside senior staff, supporting technical, content, and local SEO for US law‑firm clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical SEO audits, implement fixes (redirects, canonical tags, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, structured data) and monitor site health using Screaming Frog, Semrush and Google Search Console.
• Perform keyword research, create content briefs and audit on‑page content to improve relevance and search intent for legal practice areas.
• Optimize Google Business Profiles, build citations, monitor local rankings and flag listing inconsistencies across directories.
• Track keyword benchmark performance, report notable changes and collaborate with the broader SEO team via Asana.

Required profile

• 0–2 years of hands‑on SEO experience covering technical, content or local SEO.
• Basic familiarity with WordPress and SEO plugins such as Yoast or RankMath.
• Working knowledge of at least one major SEO tool (Screaming Frog, Semrush, Ahrefs or Google Search Console).
• Understanding of core SEO concepts, keyword research and on‑page optimization.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple client tasks.
• Strong written and spoken English for internal documentation and async collaboration.
• Self‑directed, comfortable working remotely within a defined workflow.
• Genuine curiosity about SEO and desire to grow quickly across all search areas.
