Lead Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

EPAM is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, automate, and manage large‑scale infrastructure across on‑prem data centers and Google Cloud Platform. The role combines hands‑on operations experience with deep automation and cloud expertise, guiding technical direction and mentoring a global engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and operate multi‑data‑center infrastructure spanning on‑prem hardware, GCP and AWS.
• Drive automation using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Puppet and Ansible.
• Design and maintain traffic management, load balancing and DNS at scale.
• Build monitoring and observability solutions for both on‑prem and cloud environments.
• Create tooling for auditable, distributed systems administration and maintain documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of infrastructure or systems engineering experience with production responsibility.
• Hands‑on experience managing physical hardware in colocation facilities.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.
• Excellent English communication (B2 level or higher).

Required skills

• Linux systems administration (Red Hat, Debian) at scale.
• Core networking (Cisco hardware, DNS, load balancing, traffic management).
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Puppet, Ansible.
• Scripting/automation with Python.
• Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, networking, storage, IAM).
• Experience with AWS services.
• Enterprise storage and backup systems.
