Mining & Water Technical Lead

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Mining & Water Technical Lead for its Bogota, Colombia office. The role combines technical leadership of major mining and water projects with business development for the region, working with clients, partners and industry groups.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as program manager, project manager or technical lead, directing teams on major mining and water projects and leading multi-disciplinary teams to project completion.
• Pursue major mining and water projects in Colombia and Latin America, leading proposals and engaging with clients.
• Support senior leaders in developing business strategies for mining and water, and identify opportunities in the business line and adjacent sectors.
• Lead client-facing activities to win work with new clients and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, partners, industry groups and stakeholders.
• Develop pursuit strategies and coordinate project opportunities with the Global Mining team, the Global Water team, the Growth Lead and senior project managers.
• Maintain regular contact with clients and project delivery teams to address client feedback on team performance.
• Coordinate with Technical Practice Leads and Division Managers to match team skills with market trends and drive strategic technical leadership hires.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of experience or equivalent, including 2 years of leadership.
• Proven knowledge of mining markets, trends and clients.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
• Preferred: Master's or PhD in engineering (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical or related); 15+ years of mining industry technical and leadership experience; 5 years leading projects, client accounts or business development; strong industry reputation; access to C-level stakeholders; ability to broaden into other environmental end markets; agility in fast-paced environments; mentoring experience.
