About the role
We are seeking a Physics expert to work remotely on a short‑term contract, designing and solving advanced physics problems that will be used to evaluate large language models. The role starts immediately and runs for 11 weeks, with an expected commitment of 8 hours per day and a 4‑hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time.
Key responsibilities
- Design and solve challenging physics problems for LLM evaluation benchmarks.
- Produce clear, step‑by‑step solutions with detailed reasoning and visual explanations.
- Collaborate with LLM researchers to define new undergraduate‑to‑PhD‑level benchmarks.
- Analyze complex physics questions using logical, structured approaches.
- Explain physics concepts in simple language, supported by visuals.
Required profile
- Master’s, Ph.D., or currently pursuing a Ph.D./post‑doctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical abilities with creative, lateral thinking.
- Excellent written communication and ability to work effectively in a remote team.
Required skills
- Proficiency in at least three of the following tools: QuTiP, OQuPy, QuSpin, TenPy, Strawberry Fields, openEMS, ngspice, Quantum ESPRESSO, OpenFOAM, FEniCS/FEniCSx (DOLFINx), WarpX, REBOUND, PYTHIA, Kwant, Elmer FEM, GF180MCU PDK, Sky130 PDK, FreeCAD, Project Chrono, Scilab Xcos, volare, emcee, Icarus Verilog, GTKWave, Verilator, gmsh, pyarmadillo, MeshLab.
