Pipeline Principal Engineer (Geotechnical)

About the role

Kent is looking for a Pipeline Principal Engineer to support its local projects in Colombia. The position is a fixed-term contract with no relocation or travel required, and calls for a civil engineer specializing in geotechnical engineering with 15 to 18 years of relevant professional experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design development: develop and review designs (documents and drawings) and incorporate feedback from the Engineering and Projects departments, using software, the Office suite and applicable standards.
• Planning and execution: plan and supervise each project, define scope and standards, and assign priorities to the work group according to the Detailed Work Plan and the project's man-hours.
• Bid preparation: define resource estimates from project knowledge and experience to build proposals that meet client requirements.
• Technical quality management: control the quality of deliverables against the project's Quality Plan and value proposition.
• Man-hour tracking: record man-hours per deliverable or activity to monitor project profitability.
• Client support: respond to client technical inquiries through formal meetings, resolving concerns and identifying scope changes or rework requiring change control.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering and specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Knowledge of slope stability, stress-strain, bearing capacity and settlement analyses for shallow and deep foundations.
• Experience with stability projects, river crossings and pipeline route planning is desirable.
• Specific knowledge of linear project design, preferably in hydrocarbon transportation infrastructure via pipelines, and of civil works in the oil and gas sector.
• Advanced written and verbal Spanish; English is desirable.
• Compliance with the company's HSSEQ policies and client and host-country regulations.

Required skills

• Desirable: advanced proficiency in SLIDE, PLAXIS, GEO 5 and SETTLE 3D.
• Desirable: graduate degree in project management.
• Desirable: basic to intermediate English.
