Plumbing Design Engineer for Commercial Kitchens

About the role

CloudKitchens is seeking a Plumbing Design Engineer to lead the design, construction, and operational rollout of plumbing systems for its rapidly expanding portfolio of commercial kitchen facilities. You will work within a vertically integrated engineering team to create scalable, code‑compliant solutions that support high‑volume food delivery operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and coordinate domestic water, natural gas, sanitary sewer, grease waste, roof drainage, fire water, and pumping systems.
• Perform facility due diligence to assess utility capacity, existing infrastructure, and redevelopment opportunities.
• Produce Basis of Design (BOD) packages, schematic design documents, and detailed construction drawings using Revit.
• Review consultant and Engineer of Record (EOR) packages to ensure alignment with internal standards, operational needs, and cost targets.
• Size plumbing components in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
• Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), utility providers, contractors, and vendors throughout design and construction phases.
• Support construction teams with permitting, bidding, construction administration, commissioning, and turnover.
• Collaborate with fire life‑safety teams on sprinkler layouts and hydraulic calculations when required.
• Drive R&D initiatives aimed at reducing construction costs and improving system scalability.

Required profile

• Professional engineer with experience designing plumbing systems for commercial or industrial facilities.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with architecture, mechanical, electrical, civil, development, construction, and operations teams.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, capable of developing innovative solutions beyond standard approaches.

Required skills

• Revit (or comparable BIM design platform)
• Plumbing system design and sizing
• Hydraulic calculations for fire protection and water distribution
• Knowledge of relevant plumbing and fire codes
• Creation of Basis of Design (BOD) and detailed construction documents
