About the role

Mastercard’s Global Business Solution Center (GBSC) is seeking a Principal Applied AI App Engineer to lead the design and delivery of AI‑driven applications across its evolving AI ecosystem. The role focuses on building production‑grade solutions that embed machine learning, generative AI, and large language models into real‑world payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the design lead for AI‑based solutions within the GBSC.
• Design and develop production‑grade applications that integrate machine learning, generative AI, and LLM capabilities.
• Integrate trained models into APIs, services, workflows, and user interfaces.
• Collaborate with Data Science and ML Engineering teams to operationalize pre‑built models.
• Support model versioning, deployment, monitoring, and updates in production environments.
• Implement guardrails for model behavior, data quality, and responsible AI usage.
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and ethical AI standards.
• Apply bias mitigation, explainability, and monitoring techniques.
• Follow secure coding and access‑control best practices.
• Stay current with AI/ML engineering trends and mentor team members.

Required profile

• Advanced expertise integrating generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG architectures into business applications.
• Extensive experience deploying production‑grade AI applications with robust evaluation, observability, and monitoring.
• Strong software engineering background, particularly in Python.
