Project Engineer

About the role

BYD Motor Colombia is looking for a Project Engineer to lead the delivery of fast‑charging station projects in Bogotá and Medellín. The role will coordinate technical activities with headquarters, manage the full project lifecycle and ensure successful handover of EV charging infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with headquarters on all technical aspects of fast‑charging station projects and oversee initiation, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Prepare project reports, obtain approvals and monitor progress against schedule and budget.
• Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and cable‑harness drawings, working with mechanical engineers and cross‑functional teams.
• Support planning and implementation of charging infrastructure, including construction budgets, schedules and resource planning.
• Perform software, hardware, electrical and functional testing of fast‑charging stations; develop test plans and provide troubleshooting support.
• Develop technical solutions, construction execution plans, engineering specifications and handover documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure technical compliance and quality.
• Identify risks, recommend corrective actions and drive continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in electrical infrastructure, EV charging or industrial engineering projects.
• Proven experience in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and start‑up of electrical equipment.
• Experience working with EPC contractors, utilities or EV charging equipment manufacturers is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of AC and DC electric vehicle charging systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams and cable‑harness drawings.
• Testing and commissioning of fast‑charging stations.
• Project scheduling and construction budget preparation.
• Technical documentation and handover reporting.
