Regional Humanitarian Access & Safety Adviser

About the role

The Regional Humanitarian Access and Safety Adviser will lead the development, evaluation and monitoring of NRC’s security risk management across Latin America. Reporting to the Regional Director, the adviser will ensure that humanitarian programmes are delivered safely, respecting humanitarian principles and addressing access constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a regional security risk management approach aligned with global standards.
• Provide analysis, forecasting and briefings on security developments, access impediments and emerging threats.
• Support country offices with recruitment, induction, mentoring and capacity‑building of HAS staff.
• Review and ensure compliance of Security Risk Assessments, contingency, medical emergency, evacuation and relocation plans.
• Collaborate with People & Organisation and Operational Support to uphold Duty of Care standards.
• Assist in the design and implementation of systematic access strategies across the region.

Required profile

• Highly qualified professional with extensive experience in humanitarian security and risk management.
• Resilient, dynamic and able to work in complex, volatile environments.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate security information to senior management.
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and NRC’s values.
