Registered Nurse Supervisor

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor oversees daily nursing activities within a healthcare facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering high‑quality patient care. Reporting to the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing, the role combines direct patient care, staff supervision, and coordination of clinical services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in resident care, including rounds, assessments, and reporting.
• Manage and administer IV therapy and other skilled nursing procedures.
• Supervise, instruct, and assist LVN/LPN nurses, treatment nurses, and CNAs, responding promptly to call signals.
• Oversee care plan development, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Communicate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams regarding patient status, orders, and emergencies.
• Assist with new admissions, medical emergencies, and the verification of laboratory tests.
• Participate in staff orientation, ongoing training, and quality‑assurance programs.
• Conduct audits of medication carts, charting, and other nursing areas to ensure safety and compliance.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Proven experience supervising nursing staff in a long‑term care or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with physicians, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies.
