Remote Founding Engineer - Fintech

About the role

This is a rare 0→1 Founding Engineer opportunity to build a financial platform from the ground up within an already established and profitable ecosystem. You will work directly with the founders and an existing developer, taking significant ownership of architecture, product, and technical direction.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build core financial infrastructure such as accounts, ledgers, transaction state machines and money‑movement systems.
• Design and implement KYC/KYB, onboarding, compliance, permissions, limits and approval workflows.
• Create integrations with banking partners, card issuers, payment rails, FX providers and other financial infrastructure partners.
• Develop provider‑independent architecture to avoid vendor lock‑in and build secure, reliable APIs.
• Own technical problems end‑to‑end, from database design through production deployment.

Required profile

• 3–8+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend or full‑stack fundamentals.
• Direct experience building financial infrastructure in a fintech, neobank or payments company.
• Comfort operating in a highly ambiguous 0→1 environment and taking significant ownership.
• Hands‑on attitude with a desire to continue writing production code rather than moving into a managerial role.

Required skills

• Design and implementation of production‑grade APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong database architecture and data‑modeling skills.
• Experience with asynchronous workflows, queues, events, retries, idempotency and transaction processing.
• Knowledge of core banking, payments, ledgers, cards, FX, reconciliation, KYC/KYB or money movement.
