Remote Project Engineer - HVAC & Mechanical Procurement (LATAM)

About the role

Cresta connects AEC professionals in Latin America with U.S. construction companies. It is hiring a senior Project Engineer for HVAC and mechanical procurement to join the operations team of a U.S.-based commercial mechanical construction firm based in New York. The role is 100% remote, full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST), paid in USD, and open to Mechanical Engineers, Construction Managers or HVAC specialists in LATAM.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle from job award through submittals, vendor procurement, equipment scheduling and closeout, with minimal supervision.
• Solicit submittal documents from vendors and coordinate their approval with customers and engineers.
• Read and interpret MEP construction plans to perform equipment takeoffs and material quantity calculations.
• Order equipment and materials, scheduling purchases to match project timelines and warehouse capacity.
• Work with office and on-site project managers to support field operations and fulfill material requests.
• Track project documentation such as submittals, approvals, purchase orders and closeout paperwork.
• Communicate with vendors and customers to resolve issues and negotiate timelines.
• Maintain project records in Excel while helping move operations to a new integrated project management platform.

Required profile

• 3 to 5+ years of experience in HVAC project coordination, mechanical construction or MEP procurement.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, HVAC Technology or equivalent practical experience.
• Advanced technical and conversational English (B2+ / C1 mandatory).
• Independent problem-solver, proactive communicator, detail-oriented and highly organized.

Required skills

• Reading MEP construction plans and performing equipment takeoffs.
• Managing submittal approvals, vendor purchasing, construction scheduling and closeout documentation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and the MS Office Suite; adaptability to learn new project management software.
