Sales Tax & Bookkeeping Associate

About the role

Outsourced is seeking a detail‑oriented Sales Tax & Bookkeeping Associate to support a U.S. accounting firm that serves e‑commerce clients. The position is remote, based in Colombia, and works on U.S. sales‑tax compliance and bookkeeping tasks under the guidance of a Senior Associate in Miami.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage multi‑state U.S. sales‑tax filing obligations, track nexus, prepare and verify returns using platforms such as TaxJar or Avalara.
• Perform day‑to‑day bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online, reconcile transactions, and ensure tax‑related entries are accurately reflected in the financial records.
• Coordinate with the Senior Associate to prioritize filings, resolve discrepancies from state tax authorities, and support compliance follow‑up activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with at least 2 years of accounting experience.
• Strong English communication skills and native‑level Spanish proficiency.
• Highly organized, disciplined, and able to meet recurring, time‑sensitive filing deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) – certification or substantial hands‑on experience.
• Experience with sales‑tax software such as TaxJar, Avalara, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with practice‑management tools like Karbon and cloud‑based collaboration platforms.
