Scientific Editor - Environmental Science, Energy and Sustainability

About the role

Editage, part of CACTUS, is looking for editors in its Earth and Environmental Science team to work from home on a contractual basis, renewable by mutual consent. Work is available regularly so that a predictable schedule can be maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Review and edit manuscripts to improve clarity, coherence and readability while preserving the authors' intended meaning.
• Ensure subject-specific terminology, conventions and scientific arguments are accurate and appropriate for the target audience.
• Improve the presentation of complex research findings to make them clearer and more ready for publication.
• Edit manuscripts so the final text meets high academic writing standards, is free of unclear or illogical sentences, and follows journal-specific formatting guidelines when required.

Required profile

• A Master's or PhD in one of the listed subject areas.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing, peer review or academic publishing is an advantage.
