Senior Accountant - Book Cleanup & Integration (Remote LATAM)
Stayd Collective · Medellín
Job description
About the role
Stay'd is a consortium of short-term rental management companies building one unified brand across US markets, and it needs a Senior Accountant to clean up each brand's books before they join the shared-services accounting team. The role sits in Finance & Accounting, reports to the Controller, and is remote with working-hour overlap with U.S. Eastern Time.
Key responsibilities
- Clean up each brand's historical books (typically the trailing 24-36 months) so they stand up to a Quality of Earnings review.
- Correct misclassifications, clear suspense and uncategorized balances, and document every material adjustment.
- Prepare clean monthly P&Ls, balance sheets and supporting schedules by brand and consolidated, plus the workpapers requested by diligence teams.
- Reconcile operating, payroll and credit card accounts, bring catch-up months current and keep each brand closed and reconciled monthly.
- Perform three-way reconciliations of owner trust and guest deposit accounts, resolve shortages, overages and commingling, and escalate regulatory issues.
- Ensure trust accounting complies with state real estate and vacation rental rules, and tie owner statements and payouts to trust balances.
- Map each brand's chart of accounts to the Stay'd standard, align accounting policies and prepare data for migration into NetSuite.
- Tie PMS data (Guesty, Track, Streamline) to the general ledger and write month-end close checklists and reconciliation procedures.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on cleanup or catch-up bookkeeping.
- Strong command of bank reconciliations and month-end close.
- Experience with trust or escrow accounting, ideally in property management, real estate or vacation rentals.
- Comfort working across several entities at once.
- Strong written English and availability to overlap with U.S. Eastern Time.
- A CPA or progress toward licensure is a plus; experience with QoE reviews, audits or M&A due diligence is a plus.
Required skills
- QuickBooks Online
- Advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation workpapers)
- NetSuite is a plus, especially multi-subsidiary setups or data migrations
- Familiarity with short-term rental PMS platforms is a plus
Pay is USD 1,800-2,500 per month depending on experience.
