Senior Accountant / Financial Controller

About the role

Higher Options is hiring a highly analytical and detail‑driven Senior Accountant to support the financial and accounting operations of a growing U.S.–based group of hospitality and events brands. The role is ideal for a professional with deep QuickBooks Online expertise who can maintain clean books, understand the rationale behind transaction classifications and translate financial activity into clear insight for the business.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks Online across multiple entities.
• Review, classify and analyze transactions, ensuring correct impact on income statements and balance sheets.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and flag unusual fluctuations.
• Reconcile bank, balance‑sheet, intercompany and other key accounts.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and support payroll review and reporting.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting and forecasting needs.
• Support tax compliance, audit readiness and coordination with external advisors.

Required profile

• Strong, hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Excellent understanding of financial statements and GAAP.
• Ability to explain and apply logic behind transaction classification.
• Experience with multi‑entity accounting, reconciliations and month‑end close.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and independent work ethic.
• Clear written and verbal English communication.
• Comfortable working remotely with U.S.‑based teams.
