Senior Bookkeeper for Accounting Firm (Remote)

About the role

Higher Options is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day financial records for a growing accounting firm. The position is fully remote and open to candidates worldwide, with a preference for those in Latin America or the Philippines who can overlap with U.S. business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily, monthly and yearly financial transactions in QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar cloud‑based systems.
• Maintain detailed ledgers for income, expenses, and fixed assets, including depreciation schedules.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow statements and other financial reports.
• Perform regular bank and credit‑card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, issue invoices, track payments and ensure timely vendor and employee payments.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including accruals, adjusting entries and documentation for CPA tax filings.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and provide insights to leadership.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, tax procedures and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate remotely with management, CPAs and stakeholders, communicating clearly and promptly.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience (5 years preferred) with U.S. accounting practices.
• High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with real‑estate asset depreciation is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero or Zoho Books.
• Advanced Excel skills.
