Senior Bookkeeper (Remote)

About the role

Higher Options is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage the day‑to‑day financial records of a growing accounting firm. The position is fully remote and open to candidates worldwide, with a preference for those who can overlap U.S. business hours. The role focuses on maintaining accurate books, preparing reports, and supporting the finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily, monthly and yearly transactions in QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar platforms.
• Maintain detailed ledgers for income, expenses, and fixed assets, including depreciation schedules.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow statements and other financial reports.
• Perform bank and credit‑card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, issue invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including accruals and adjusting entries.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and provide insights for leadership planning.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, tax filing requirements and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate remotely with management, CPAs and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience, preferably 5 years.
• Hands‑on experience with U.S. accounting practices.
• High school diploma; associate or bachelor degree in accounting or finance is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client accounts.
