Senior Cloud Engineer - Cloud Platform Transformation

About the role

Chubb, an underwriting company transforming into a leading Underwriting Engineering and Data Analytics business, is seeking a senior, hands-on cloud engineer to lead cloud platform automation and container platform design. The role sits within the Global cloud team and is central to Chubb's move toward a new GCP platform, with opportunities to shape product capabilities and build solutions from developer experience to operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Own cloud infrastructure operations within the Global cloud team and lead the execution of Chubb's cloud strategy, presenting the roadmap and progress to senior stakeholders and executives.
• Work on cloud transformation projects across Chubb, giving architectural guidance to application teams and ensuring they follow the Cloud Adoption Framework and Chubb standards.
• Design specifications for new cloud services and work with engineering to build self-service capabilities.
• Drive automation and self-service through CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, and build operational capabilities for the operations team.
• Document and design Azure controls and governance policies, automating deployment of security policies with security teams.
• Educate application users on services, automation and best practices, and assist support teams during major production incidents.
• Assess application maturity for cloud-native architecture and lead cost management and optimization initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or a related field.
• At least 15 years of IT automation experience, including 4 years supporting Azure/GCP cloud services and 2 years with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with large cloud transformation projects, preferably in GCP.
• Relevant Azure/GCP certification.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms: Azure and/or GCP, with IAM, security, monitoring and network design experience.
• Infrastructure as code and pipelines with Terraform, Ansible, Bash and Jenkins, including test automation.
• Windows and Linux environments, with Kubernetes, AKS and EKS.
• Monitoring and logging tools such as ELK and Prometheus; change management with ServiceNow.
