About the role

The Senior Commercial Lawyer joins BT International Legal as a senior individual contributor, providing expert legal and commercial support for complex, high‑value, often cross‑border transactions. Based in Bogotá, the role focuses on U.S.‑governed contracts and works closely with U.S. stakeholders, applying U.S. commercial law principles.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiation and drafting of complex commercial agreements.
• Support strategic transactions, bids and high‑value deals.
• Provide risk‑based legal guidance to senior business stakeholders.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks while ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.
• Collaborate with global legal teams and manage external counsel.
• Drive legal transformation initiatives, including automation and AI‑enabled drafting.
• Validate AI‑generated outputs using legal judgement and contribute to self‑service models.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with significant experience in U.S. commercial law.
• Proven track record of negotiating and drafting complex contracts.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and trusted‑advisor capabilities.
• Commercial mindset with ability to translate legal risk into business outcomes.
