Senior Data Scientist – Research Focus

About the role

As a Senior Data Scientist focusing on research, you will drive the development of next‑generation retail measurement solutions at NielsenIQ. Working with large internal, client and third‑party datasets, you will translate business challenges into innovative AI/ML products that support our global FMCG clients.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate across functions and with other data scientists to address daily business needs and automation projects.
• Convert client and product team requirements into actionable research problems and prototype solutions.
• Design, build, and test statistical and machine‑learning models, leveraging big‑data environments.
• Conduct experiments, fine‑tune parameters, and iterate to optimise model performance.
• Document experiments and create detailed specifications for technology teams to productionise solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code for prototyping and hand‑over to engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field; PhD a plus.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in data science or research, with a track record of leading end‑to‑end projects.
• Strong analytical expertise and ability to define scientific research problems from business contexts.
