Specialist Teacher - Language (English)

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons that match the school's curriculum, policies and external assessment requirements, and individualise and differentiate learning so every student makes outstanding progress.
• Assess students' in-class and at-home learning regularly, giving targeted feedback to drive progress.
• Create a classroom and school environment where students feel valued, supported and ready to take risks in their learning.
• Work with colleagues as part of a learning community, sharing best practice and developing professionally.
• Take an active part in the co-curricular programme, from leading clubs to contributing to whole-school initiatives.
• Maintain open, constructive communication with parents to build strong partnerships.

Required profile

• A genuine passion for education and the ability to engage and motivate young people.
• Proven excellence in personal, academic and professional achievements.
• Deep expertise in the subject and in assessing progress and giving feedback, including in external assessments.
• Experience in pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with families.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, able to plan, prioritise and work under pressure.
• PGCE, QTS or equivalent, with excellent academic credentials and, ideally, evidence of post-graduate study.
