Structural Steel Connection Design Engineer

About the role

The Structural Steel Connection Design Engineer will develop and verify steel connection designs that support project delivery within the Detailing & Engineering Operations department. Working closely with project managers, modelers, detailers and other engineers, the role ensures that all connection solutions comply with relevant codes, standards and constructability requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate steel connection designs according to project specifications, codes and standards.
• Prepare and review detailed connection calculations and design reports for a wide range of structural steel connections.
• Interpret structural drawings, specifications and engineering instructions to determine appropriate connection solutions.
• Coordinate with modelers and detailers to communicate design intent and resolve technical issues.
• Review shop drawings and connection details, providing feedback to ensure compliance with engineering principles.
• Support project managers and engineers with technical analysis and problem‑solving related to constructability.
• Maintain accurate records of calculations, correspondence and design revisions.
• Participate in internal reviews and contribute to the improvement of design workflows and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil, Structural or related engineering discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in structural steel connection design, preferably in steel detailing or construction.
• Proven track record of designing steel structures on real projects.
• Working knowledge of relevant specifications and codes.
