Substation Physical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to support the design and execution of high‑voltage substation projects for U.S. utilities. Based in our Bogotá office, you will create construction‑ready physical layouts and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed substation physical design drawings, including general arrangements, elevations, grounding, lightning protection, conduit plans and control building layouts.
• Perform engineering calculations such as grounding studies, lightning protection, conduit fill and voltage drop analyses.
• Coordinate equipment layouts, raceway systems, and site infrastructure with civil and structural engineers.
• Review design deliverables for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with IEEE, NESC and client‑specific standards.
• Support constructability reviews, field engineering, and resolution of technical issues during construction.

Required profile

• 5+ years of substation engineering experience focused on physical design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering.
• Proficiency in English (B2 level or higher) to support U.S. teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
