Underwriting Analyst

About the role

World Business Lenders (WBL) provides short-term, real estate–collateralized commercial loans to small and medium-sized businesses in the United States that cannot access traditional financing. It also services its own loan portfolio and those of third parties, focusing on non-performing loan pools and REO. The company is U.S.-based with a fully remote workforce, working 9:00am–6:00pm Eastern Time, Monday to Friday. The role requires near-zero errors in credit sheets and CRM data entry, basic product knowledge, effective cross-departmental communication and a solid grasp of underwriting concepts and internal guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare credit analysis to support informed credit recommendations.
• Review bank statements, financial statements, tax returns and cash flow statements to carry out thorough investment analyses.
• Structure and underwrite complex credit applications, balancing profitability goals with risk guidelines.
• Create financial models to analyse individual loan performance and overall portfolio health.
• Ensure every loan application follows WBL's underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Prepare underwriting forms and Loan Approval forms in Excel, keeping them complete and accurate.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience showing relevant proficiency.
• At least 2 years of experience in underwriting, credit analysis, lending or banking.
• Experience with financial analysis or structured credit is a big plus.
• Lending industry and banking sector background preferred.
• Strong spoken and written English; resumes must be submitted in English.

Required skills

• Intermediate MS Excel.
• Analyse financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and bank statements.
• Basic financial modelling and understanding of credit underwriting principles.
• Strong analytical mindset, high attention to detail, stress tolerance and ability to work independently.
