Academic Content Developer - FinTech Systems & Payments Engineering

About the role

Jala University is launching a FinTech Engineering Specialization for mid-to-senior software engineers, taught in English and built around production-grade engineering. It is looking for senior practitioners to design the content of each of the program's four courses. The university aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry with a model that integrates experts from both fields.

Key responsibilities

• Design module content, labs, a reference implementation, an evaluation harness and an instructor guide for each course.
• Write examples, labs and exercises in Go and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Produce content that is clear and technically precise for mid-to-senior engineers, reflecting real systems rather than academic exercises.

Required profile

• Mandatory direct professional experience at a payments fintech operating in Latin America (Clip, dLocal, Kushki, Ebanx, Stone, Conekta or equivalent).
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, at least 3 in FinTech, payments or financial services.
• Professional written English; content must be clear and technically precise.
• Production mindset focused on what engineers build in real systems.

Required skills

• Card payments: card flows (ISO 8583 authorization, capture, reversal, settlement), BIN routing, acquiring models and interchange, and familiarity with ISO 20022.
• Instant payment rails: hands-on integration with PIX, SPEI or Transferencias 3.0, including QR payloads and settlement flows.
• Ledgers and distributed systems: multi-tenant, event-sourced, double-entry ledgers, isolation levels, locking, idempotency, transaction state machines and double-spending prevention.
• Clearing and settlement: LatAm networks (SLC, CERC, Prosa, ACH, Coelsa) and BaaS/Ledger-as-a-Service integration.
• Regulation by design: working knowledge of at least one LatAm framework (BACEN, CNBV, BCRA, SFC).
• Nice to have: stablecoin settlement concepts, technical documentation (RFCs, ADRs, OpenAPI specs), and Spanish.
