Accountant II

About the role

The Accountant II will provide core accounting services for the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project, a global health initiative funded by PEPFAR and the U.S. Department of State. The role involves recording, classifying, and analyzing financial transactions, supporting field offices, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Apply accounting principles to budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting and monthly financial consolidation for Country Offices.
• Conduct live training on financial systems for field programs and assist Global Program Management staff with financial queries.
• Process journal entries, cash receipts, wire payments and reconcile sub‑recipients with the general ledger.
• Prepare and review financial reports, support internal and external audits, and respond to audit requests.
• Maintain general ledger accounts, sub‑ledgers and produce regular accounting reports for management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience in a public accounting firm or large organization, preferably within an NGO.
• Fluent written and spoken English and strong analytical and organizational abilities.
• Prior experience leading a team or providing training is preferred.

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Microsoft Office 365 suite, SharePoint, and video‑conferencing tools such as Zoom or Teams.
• Ability to process journal entries, cash management and wire payments in accounting systems.
