Accounting Control Coordinator

About the role

BNP Paribas is looking for an Accounting Control Coordinator in Bogotá, Colombia, within its Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) finance and tax unit. The role reports to the Head of Finance and covers the central function of control and supervision of head office and local regulatory reporting, keeping the accounting and financial reporting risk acceptable for each legal vehicle in Colombia.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the group's internal financial reporting control system and the activities needed to fully control accounts, according to the complexity of the entities involved.
• Act as a second-level reviewer of local financial reporting, ensuring controls meet internal and regulatory policies in terms of periodicity, timeliness, technical specificity and quality.
• Ensure monthly accuracy of head office reporting (HOR) and prepare reports requested by central teams for consolidation.
• Prepare annual statutory financial statements and interim financial and accounting reports for the entities under scope.
• Interact with internal and external auditors and control regulators on accounting and regulatory reporting matters.
• Provide periodic reports to stakeholders of the local corporation on financial statements, including balance sheet position, net banking income and information for the board, committees, the IG, external auditors and the local regulator.
• Manage assigned projects, including tests, finance team participation, result monitoring and follow-up meetings.
• Review working papers for the annual stress testing framework (EPR) and prepare the report for the Board and SFC.
• Attend regulatory committee meetings to understand new rules and their impact on accounting and reporting.
• Support the sign-off of the local entity's financial statements (backup).

Required profile

• Local CPA qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Previous work in financial institutions in finance, auditing and regulatory norms.
• Strong knowledge of capital markets, banking process analysis, financial accounting, valuation of financial instruments, risk and controls.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Excel.
• Good communication, teamwork and ability to work under pressure.
• Proactive, adaptable, detail-oriented and focused on control and risk.
