AS/400 (IBM iSeries) System Administrator - L3

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (IBM iSeries) System Administrator – L3 to manage and support i (AS/400) environments in a 24x7 enterprise infrastructure. The role is the primary escalation point for operational issues and ensures system stability, availability, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve escalated incidents beyond L1‑L2 support, monitor performance, and conduct proactive health checks.
• Administer user profiles, service accounts, security keys, SSH configuration, digital certificates, and SSL lifecycle.
• Manage daily, weekly and full system backups, validate restores, and support disaster‑recovery testing.
• Administer internal and external storage, tape libraries, media management, and storage optimization initiatives.
• Create, modify and schedule jobs using Advanced Job Scheduler, configure job queues and subsystems.
• Handle printer sessions, LAN/remote printers, output queues and spool file issues.
• Support High Availability and Disaster Recovery environments, monitor replication and participate in DR drills.
• Evaluate and apply PTFs, HIPER fixes, cumulative packages, and support application deployments across i partitions.
• Coordinate with hardware and software vendors, provide advanced troubleshooting and mentor L1/L2 teams.
