AS/400 Infrastructure Administrator

About the role

Client is looking for an experienced AS/400 Infrastructure Administrator to manage, support, and maintain IBM i / AS/400 environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IBM i system administration, operations, performance monitoring, backup/recovery, security, and troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support IBM i / AS/400 environments and IBM i OS.
• Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity management.
• Manage IBM i subsystems, jobs, job queues, output queues, system values, and user profiles.
• Perform backup and recovery operations using IBM i procedures.
• Monitor system health, availability, storage, CPU, memory, and resources.
• Manage IBM i security, user access, permissions, profiles, and security policies.
• Support HA/DR environments, system replication, and disaster recovery activities.
• Perform PTF management, OS upgrades, system maintenance, and patching.
• Troubleshoot batch jobs, system errors, application issues, and connectivity problems.
• Monitor and support TCP/IP, networking, FTP/SFTP, DNS, and connectivity within IBM i environments.

Required skills

• Strong experience as an AS/400 / IBM i System Administrator or Infrastructure Administrator.
• Hands‑on experience with IBM i / AS/400, IBM i OS, and OS/400.
• Experience with CL/CLLE, DB2 for i, and RPG/RPGLE programming environments.
• Expertise in IBM i backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
• Proficiency in PTF management, OS upgrades, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
