Backend Software Engineer II – Security Focus

About the role

INSPYR Global Solutions is hiring a Backend Software Engineer II with a strong security focus, working remotely from Latin America on a 12+ month contract. The role develops and maintains Java-based backend services, with a primary focus on keeping the codebase secure, current and compliant: finding and fixing vulnerabilities, upgrading dependencies and applying secure coding practices. Candidates must be citizens of the country of employment or authorized to work there.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services in Java with Spring-based frameworks
• Find and remediate CVEs and other security vulnerabilities across applications and dependencies
• Manage dependency upgrades and version updates with Maven and Gradle
• Apply OWASP guidelines and secure coding practices throughout development
• Work with SQL Server to design, query and maintain application data
• Work with development and security teams to assess risk and prioritize fixes
• Join code reviews with an eye toward security and code quality

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years of professional backend development experience in Java
• Proven experience with CVE remediation and dependency upgrades using Maven and/or Gradle
• Solid understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices
• Citizen of the country of employment or authorized to work there

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Spring-based frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Security)
• Working knowledge of SQL Server
