Bilingual Lead Data Engineer - GCP

About the role

A company is looking for a bilingual Lead Data Engineer in Bogota to lead the architecture, scalability, reliability and quality of its data platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role suits a hands-on technical leader who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, building scalable data solutions and mentoring engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead data architecture and engineering decisions across the GCP data platform.
• Design, build and optimize scalable data pipelines and ELT workflows.
• Develop and optimize BigQuery data models for analytics and business intelligence.
• Establish best practices for code quality, testing, monitoring, security and data governance.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Analytics, Data Science and cross-functional teams.
• Improve platform reliability, performance and cost efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree; master's degree desirable.
• 3+ years of experience as a Technical Lead in Data Engineering or as an Architect.
• Proven technical leadership, problem-solving and mentoring skills.
• Full bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Run, Dataflow, Pub/Sub and Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.
• Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Data modeling, pipeline orchestration and production environments.
• Nice to have: Python, Looker/LookML, CI/CD, automated data testing, and experience with high-volume event-based data such as GA4.

What we offer

• Location: Bogota, Colombia; schedule Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
• Primarily on-site, with some work-from-home days.
