Civil Engineer – Renewables

About the role

WSP is looking for a Civil Engineer with 6‑9 years of experience to join its multidisciplinary renewables team. The role supports planning, design, analysis and delivery of wind, solar and battery energy storage projects across all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse civil works for wind farms, solar PV facilities and BESS, including grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion control and access roads.
• Develop foundations, platforms, hardstands, collector systems and related site infrastructure.
• Prepare calculations, technical reports, design drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
• Coordinate site investigations and review topographic, geotechnical, hydrological and environmental data.
• Support permitting, regulatory compliance and construction activities, including field inspections and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (master’s degree is an asset); professional engineer designation preferred.
• 6‑9 years of civil engineering experience, preferably on renewable energy or major infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience through feasibility, detailed design, construction and commissioning phases.
• Advanced proficiency in English and French, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles for renewable infrastructure.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD or MicroStation for design work.
• Experience with stormwater management, earthworks and road design.
• Familiarity with hydrological/hydraulic analysis tools and engineering standards.
• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering documentation tools.
