Data Platform Engineer

About the role

The Data Platform Engineer will own the reliability and operational performance of large‑scale distributed systems and data infrastructure at Chainlink. You will strengthen production operations for streaming and Kubernetes workloads while ensuring changes are managed through repeatable, version‑controlled practices.

Key responsibilities

• Enable critical product initiatives by delivering streaming and data infrastructure (Redpanda/Kafka, Flink) for CRE, CCIP, Data Feeds and Data Streams.
• Maintain 99.9% availability, scale workloads, resolve bottlenecks, and define SLIs for consuming services.
• Reduce operational maintenance to under 20% of team capacity through automation, alerts, and tested recovery procedures.
• Connect infrastructure usage (Redpanda topics, Flink processing, BigQuery) to consuming teams and make services self‑service via Terraform modules and documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating large‑scale distributed systems, streaming platforms and data processing infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in at least one of: Apache Flink, Redpanda/Kafka, Iceberg, PostgreSQL, Airflow, Trino.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting production Kubernetes workloads.
• Experience building reusable infrastructure modules, self‑service capabilities, and CI/CD workflows.
