Engineering Manager

About the role

Proximus Global is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead multiple teams in the Protect & Engage area. You will oversee the design, development and operation of cloud‑native services used by millions of consumers worldwide, working with distributed teams across Colombia, India, Serbia and more.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and operation of highly available, scalable, secure cloud‑native services supporting 24/7 business‑critical workloads.
• Drive platform evolution, define long‑term architectural strategies and champion technology choices through assessments and risk analysis.
• Partner with product, business and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Oversee engineering test strategies, quality assurance processes and ensure product reliability.
• Mentor, coach and develop engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
• Establish engineering best practices via architecture, design and code reviews, reducing technical debt.
• Define and improve the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, release management and operational practices.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Strong experience with AWS services (S3, DynamoDB, EC2, Kinesis, API Gateway, CloudWatch, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch).
• Hands‑on development in Python.
• Deep knowledge of object‑oriented design, design patterns, clean code, TDD and CI/CD.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling and query optimization.
• Proficiency with Git, branching strategies and pull‑request workflows.
• Design and maintenance of RESTful APIs and microservices, including security and observability.
• Containerization with Docker and understanding of orchestration concepts.
• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies, Scrum and sprint planning.
