Fundamentals Capital Structure Analyst

About the role

Octus, a global provider of credit intelligence, data and analytics, runs a Fundamentals Analyst program that offers a structured entry point into financial data and credit markets. The analyst builds and maintains capital structures of debt issuers in Excel-based models, calculates credit metrics and ensures data quality and consistency across the coverage universe. The role develops a grounding in financial statement analysis, accounting, capital structure mechanics and credit metrics through hands-on, detail-oriented work.

Candidates based in Bogota are expected to work an 11:00 am to 8:00 pm local time shift during the first six months to support training and overlap with the Los Angeles team; hours then normalise to 9:00 am to 6:00 pm as the analyst becomes fully autonomous.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse financial reporting documents such as earnings reports, presentations, memoranda, lender presentations and credit agreements
• Prepare detailed financial models focused on the issuer's capital structure, including debt instruments, seniority and facility terms (maturity, interest, etc.) and equity value
• Build and maintain capital structures on a quarterly or monthly basis and for key events
• Leverage AI tools to improve workflow efficiency, automate repetitive tasks and support day-to-day analytical work
• Take part in ad hoc projects to improve the quality of the data set and data products

Required profile

• Graduate with a degree in economics, accounting or finance
• Ability to interpret financial statements to evaluate business performance and understand the link between business drivers and financial results, including modelling these relationships quantitatively
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the tenacity to resolve complex issues
• Interest in credit or financial markets
• Desire to learn and apply new skills to grow professionally and personally
