Grants Accounting Specialist – Latin America

About the role

The Grants Accounting Specialist supports financial stewardship across Latin America by managing grant accounting activities and accounts payable operations. The role ensures donor compliance, accurate financial records, timely vendor payments, and audit readiness while partnering with program teams, country offices, and finance leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate grant budgets, expenditures, and financial reports for donor and policy compliance.
• Provide financial guidance on grant management, cost allocation, expense coding, and donor requirements.
• Monitor grant transactions and prepare timely grant financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable processes, including vendor invoices and employee reimbursements.
• Perform reconciliations of grant‑related, vendor, and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities with journal entries, accruals, and analyses.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and prepare schedules for donor and statutory audits.
• Promote compliance with financial policies and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent certification highly desirable.
• 3‑5 years of accounting experience, including grant accounting and accounts payable.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Workday.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Latin America region.
