IBM AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator – L2

About the role

We are looking for an experienced IBM AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator at L2 level to manage and support IBM i environments within a 24x7 enterprise infrastructure. You will be the primary escalation point for operational issues, ensuring system stability, availability, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve escalated incidents beyond L1 support.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance; conduct proactive health checks.
• Generate daily system status reports and operational metrics.
• Create, modify, and manage user profiles, service accounts, and security settings.
• Handle SSH configuration, digital certificates, SSL implementation, and certificate lifecycle.
• Administer backup schedules, validate restores, and support disaster‑recovery testing.
• Manage internal and external storage, tape libraries, and disk reclamation activities.
• Configure and maintain Advanced Job Scheduler, job queues, and subsystems.
• Administer printer sessions, output queues, and resolve spool issues.
• Support high‑availability and disaster‑recovery environments, monitor replication, and execute failover drills.
• Apply IBM PTFs, HIPER fixes, and cumulative packages; coordinate vendor support.

Required profile

• 5 to 10 years of hands‑on experience with IBM AS/400 / iSeries environments.
• Proven ability to act as a senior escalation point for complex operational issues.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across system, storage, and network layers.
