Intermediary Structural Engineer - Renewables

About the role

WSP's Renewables market sector, part of its Energy group, works on solar, wind and battery energy storage projects with public and private clients. This full-time position leads the structural engineering of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, battery energy storage and electrical substation projects, with about 10% of the time spent providing construction support in the office and on site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering for wind turbine foundations, solar farm support structures, battery energy storage system foundations and electrical substation equipment foundations
• Prepare calculations, reports, plans and specifications for the design and evaluation of these structures
• Provide construction support services, office and on site (about 10% of the role)
• Ensure designs comply with engineering standards and codes and internal QA/QC procedures
• Use finite element modeling software to deliver accurate and efficient designs

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
• 3 to 5 years of experience in consulting engineering and structural design
• Experience designing reinforced concrete and steel structures
• Registered engineer in a Canadian province is desirable; experience with wind turbine foundations or substation structures is an asset
• English B2-C1 is mandatory; French B2-C1 is desirable
