L1 Analyst - Cybersecurity Operations

About the role

AppGate Cybersecurity is looking for a highly curious and proactive L1 Analyst to join its GFC operations team in Bogotá. You will act as the first line of defense, investigating and mitigating cybersecurity events for clients with an analytical approach. The company values curiosity: it wants someone who does more than pass on an alert, who asks why, digs into data, investigates anomalies and proposes new ideas and tools to improve processes.

Key responsibilities

• First responder: be the initial contact for security events received by ticket, email and telephone, communicating professionally with clients.
• Proactive threat analysis and monitoring: continuously monitor, search proactively, analyse threats and run vulnerability assessments using documented procedures and your own investigative instinct.
• Incident response and escalation: solve technical problems independently and escalate complex issues to Level 2 analysts and Team Leaders when needed.
• Continuous improvement: take part in investigations focused on key information gathering, explore and test new monitoring and remediation tools.
• Documentation and best practices: document every action taken in incident management and recommend improvements to GFC processes, procedures and security policies.
• Team collaboration: work with local team members and external staff, and help train junior analysts and interns.

Required profile

• Student or graduate in Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, Mechatronics or a similar field.
• At least 1 year of experience in operations environments such as SOC or Help Desk.
• Intermediate English (B1+ or B2), spoken and written.
• Natural curiosity, innovation and proactivity, effective communication, problem-solving and adaptability.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Basic knowledge of HTML and web fundamentals.
