Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist to support a U.S.-based healthcare services organization. This full‑time remote position involves managing the complete revenue cycle for primary care practices.

Key responsibilities

• Review, submit and monitor claims in Athena, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Post insurance and patient payments from ERA/EOB documents and reconcile discrepancies.
• Identify, research and resolve denied or underpaid claims, prepare appeals with supporting documentation.
• Respond to patient billing inquiries via phone, email and portal, explaining statements and payment options.
• Maintain daily tracking of claim submissions, patient statements and key billing outputs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on U.S. medical billing and revenue cycle management experience.
• Direct experience with athenahealth EHR/PM.
• Strong understanding of the full revenue cycle, EDI transactions and payer requirements.
• Excellent written and spoken English and professional communication skills.
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet remote workspace.
