Node.js Developer – Medellín

About the role

Sangoma is looking for a skilled Node.js Developer to join its Medellín development team. You will work on innovative UCaaS products, building and maintaining high‑performance backend services that power our communication platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
• Write clean, secure, and efficient code following best‑practice standards.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable software.
• Build and optimise backend systems for performance, scalability, reliability and security in a production SaaS environment.
• Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, analyse and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks and defects.
• Develop and maintain integrations with databases, third‑party services and internal systems.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and overall backend infrastructure.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience developing backend applications with Node.js in production.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Express.js.
• Proven ability to design, build and maintain RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, event‑driven architecture and scalable backend design.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimising backend performance.
• Familiarity with cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
