P&C Facultative Underwriter

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for a P&C Facultative Underwriter to support the growth of its facultative reinsurance portfolio across the Andean Region. The role covers underwriting, client relationship management, portfolio development and business origination in Property and Casualty lines, working with clients, brokers, cross-functional teams and regional underwriting experts. The territory includes Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the execution of the Property & Casualty facultative underwriting strategy for the Andean Region.
• Identify and develop new facultative business with brokers and clients, and build strong broker and cedent relationships.
• Analyze contract wordings with legal and contract specialists, and assess risks, pricing, terms, conditions, structures and deployed capacity against underwriting guidelines.
• Perform underwriting activities such as risk evaluation, costing, documentation, system entries and file management.
• Originate, structure, negotiate and underwrite profitable facultative reinsurance transactions.
• Monitor market trends, competitive developments and emerging risk factors, and follow regulatory changes.
• Represent the company in client meetings, industry events and strategic market engagements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in property re/insurance underwriting (casualty experience is a plus).
• Experience in facultative underwriting, insurance, reinsurance or commercial risk underwriting.
• Knowledge of property products (casualty knowledge is a plus).
• Understanding of insurance and reinsurance contract structures, and preferably of the regulatory environment in the Andean Region.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; additional languages appreciated.
