Principal Engineer – Mechanical Engineering (Data Centers)

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to lead mechanical engineering design for data center projects in Bogota, Colombia. The role focuses on HVAC system design, especially chilled water plants, heating and cooling control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Identify requirements and calculate cooling and heating loads using HAP, Tracer 3D, EESV, and CYPE.
• Design chilled water, variable refrigerant, centralized, and precision HVAC systems.
• Select equipment, size components, and ensure compliance with ASHRAE and SMACNA standards.
• Prepare specifications, drawings, calculation reports, and technical documentation in English.
• Create plant drawings, system architecture, schematics, control single‑line diagrams, P&IDs, and installation details.
• Model systems in Revit, review modeler drawings, generate pressure‑drop reports and equipment tables, and coordinate using Revit or Navisworks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, with a preference for 8 years.
• Proficiency in load calculation software (HAP, Tracer 3D, EESV, CYPE).
• Experience designing air‑conditioning and mechanical ventilation for industrial/institutional facilities.
• Basic Revit and AutoCAD skills.
• Intermediate written and spoken English; advanced English preferred.
