Principal Engineer – Security & Controls for Data Centers

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead security and control system design for data centers and commercial facilities. The role involves creating integrated solutions that protect assets, people, and operations while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and integrate access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and alarm systems for data centers and commercial facilities.
• Develop layered security strategies, define security zoning, access policies, and operational workflows for employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
• Create 3D models and coverage maps for CCTV camera views and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
• Produce detailed drawings, technical specifications, and bills of quantities while coordinating with architecture, structural, civil, electrical, mechanical, ICT, and operations teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technological field and at least 6 years of security design and building automation experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit or equivalent design tools and familiarity with the AIA design process.
• Intermediate English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Preferred certifications include PSP, CPP, CISSP, NFPA, ESS, EN, BICSI RCDD, and technical certifications from manufacturers such as Axis, Genetec, LenelS2, HID, Honeywell, etc.
