Process Engineer – Dairy & Food Industry

About the role

GEA, a global supplier of systems for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors, is looking for a Process Engineer in Bogotá. The engineer works on dairy and food (LFF) projects, covering pre-engineering, design, procurement coordination, commissioning and technical support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare pre-engineering documents: process dimensioning, production schedules, cleaning-in-place specs, layout and product loss calculations.
• Draw flowcharts, block diagrams and P&IDs with 2D design tools, and perform mass and energy balances.
• Size thermal and mechanical equipment (pumps, pipes, steam, valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation).
• Prepare equipment lists with technical specifications for electrical, automation and mechanical design.
• Coordinate with sales, procurement, logistics, electrical and automation engineering and project management on manufacturing and installation plans.
• Review technical specifications for procurement negotiations and prepare purchase requisitions in SAP.
• Lead technical design reviews, hold order clarification meetings with customers and suppliers, and improve technical solutions.
• Write process descriptions and operation manuals, and run initial tests, start-up, commissioning and client training.
• Provide technical problem support and claim resolution, including root cause analysis, and deliver As-Built P&IDs.
• Follow QHSE policies and help train new department staff.

Required profile

• Degree in engineering: Chemical and Food (preferred), Industrial or Mechanical (depending on experience).
• 5+ years of experience on medium-sized dairy and food projects (valuable).
• Master's degree or specific technical trainings (valuable).

Required skills

• Knowledge of main engineering calculation and design tools.
• P&ID drawing and mass/energy balance calculations.
