Remote Project Accountant (South America, PT Time Zone)

About the role

A remote Job Cost Accountant position is open anywhere in South America, working in PT time zone. The role ensures every construction project is accurately tracked from job setup through final invoicing and financial reporting, acting as the bridge between Operations and Accounting. It keeps job costing data reliable, monitors project profitability and makes sure information flows correctly from restoration management systems into QuickBooks.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain job records in accounting and project management systems, reviewing job setup for correct cost codes, customer and insurance claim information and project classifications.
• Monitor job costs throughout the project lifecycle and assign labor, subcontractor, material and equipment costs to the right jobs; review jobs regularly for overruns, missing costs or coding errors.
• Link Operations, Estimating and Accounting: validate that approved estimates, change orders and supplements are recorded, that work done in RMS/Xactimate is captured for billing and revenue recognition, and that job status and work-in-progress reporting stay accurate.
• Generate customer and insurance invoices, check that they are backed by approved estimates and signed authorizations, track billing milestones, monitor accounts receivable aging and help with collections.
• Review vendor invoices and subcontractor bills, reconcile purchase orders, work orders and invoices, and coordinate lien waivers.
• Reconcile job costing data between RMS and QuickBooks, assist with monthly close, prepare WIP and job profitability reports, and support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.

Required profile

• 3+ years of bookkeeping, job costing, construction accounting, restoration accounting or project accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of QuickBooks Online and experience with job costing and project-based accounting.
• English.
• Ability to reconcile details across multiple systems and spot issues before they affect billing, profitability or reporting.
